PTFE PRECISION MACHINING OF CUSTOM PLASTIC COMPONENTS
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a performance thermoplastic known for its chemical inertness & resistance to attack, low coefficient of friction, broad operating temperature range, excellent dielectric properties, thermal & electrical insulating, negligible water absorption and non-stick characteristic and among many others.
PTFE resins have an upper service temperature of 500º F (260 C) and is one of the most widely used fluoroplastic material. PTFE mechanical properties remain useful over a temperature range of -400° F to 400° F, and can be used as low as -436º F (-260 C).
PTFE properties are often enhanced using fillers creating compounds (such as 15% or 25% glass filled) to improve wear resistance, part stability, and creep strength. PTFE Gaskets are integral for confinement of gas or liquid, compensating for surface irregularities of mating surfaces.
Expanded PTFE (EPTFE) is a soft, conformable material ideal for applications with limited bolt load torque, providing exceptional sealing with the same chemical resistance as standard PTFE.
